Our client, Design Shanghai is a new initiative from the Group in China. It will provide services to the Group Consumer Lifestyle, HealthCare and Lighting in the area of People Research, Trend analysis, Identity Design, Product Design, User Interface Design and Communication Design. It works highly collaborative with all other locations across the globe to drive the Group brand towards our Brand promise; Sense & Simplicity.
Position 5: Senior Visual Trend Analysis Shanghai Branch( code:20118814305)
Job Summary
Develops design research programs and executes them with the goal of inspiring and guiding design direction setting for both product and communication. Is able to turn briefings into research proposals for trends, people and design. Strong visualization and verbal articulation skills that help articulate the possibilities for design direction. Can build color-pallettes to strategize and manage portfolios with many products, and is able to advise and help in the implementation of the palette.
You will report to
Location Manager(to be defined) / APR VTA lead
You will be
-assessing the scope of projects in a way that can be translated into project plans, budgets, etc.
-writing clear project proposals
-setting up simple design research projects
-contributing to new ways of relevant design or business service delivery
-being aware of The Group Design?s vocabulary, methods and tools for (trend) research
-co-ordinating, steering and motivating small teams
-understanding and using basic (trend) analysis toolboxes
-describing outcomes in keyword style
-defining and conducting applied (design) research within a domain by using established methodologies and toolboxes (e.g. framing, gathering manifestations/data relevant to the brief, clustering/mapping, anchoring)
-making smart use of internal and external networks and experts
-being aware of and observing visual trends and changes in society, people, marketing, the industry, the relevant domain, and emerging consumer attitudes, and translating high-level abstract trends into insights and opportunities, using relevant trend triggers
-using established people research methods to uncover insights that are relevant to visual trends analysis and the relevant domain
-defining need-ladders and extrapolating market data into sound creative profiles
-working with aesthetic trends at an abstract level
-verbally articulating visual manifestations in short sentences
-inspiring the total design experience and multi-disciplinary teams
-observing and de-layering cultural signals (the ideas they represent, semantics, attributes, characteristics, etc.), aesthetic and design trends, and translating these into design inspiration materials
-understanding the embedded signs and symbols and their meaning for culture, audiences, brands and propositions
-creating innovation or trend themes that are topic-focused and relevant
-writing consumer insights, benefits, reasons to believe etc.
-observing changes in color trends
-co-creating color programs for categories in line with the brand identity framework that are on-brand, appropriate and make use of relevant color trends
-applying these progams to portfolios of products and ranges, and implementing them
-managing diversity in ranges of products by strategically using the color palette
You will work for
-The Consumer Lifestyle BG’s Domestic Appliances (household appliances such as blenders, rice cookers, soy bean milk makers, hot pots), Health & Wellness (mother & child care products such as baby bottles, baby monitors, soothers, teethers, etc) and Personal Care (hairdryers, hair stylers, shavers, trimmers, clippers); projects can be driven over multiple locations, cross regions and involving multi -disciplinary resources and competences.
You will work with
-an internal team of Design Managers & Project Managers to balance all delivery in terms of quality, time & money.

You have
-Masters / Bachelors degree in industrial, fashion or interior design and has a strong affinity for research
-minimum of 5-6 years experience
-a senior level of necessary professional skills, including computer skills
-a strong professional ambition
-knowledge of the The Group CL?sBrand identity
-strong interpersonal and communication skills
-a good business command of the English language
-an excellent command of the Chinese language
-strong business awareness
-good consultancy skills
