A Graphic Novel About The Product Design Process

by Waikit Chung on May 1, 2009

I thought it would be nice to share a fun PDF graphic novel called ‘The Product Design Process’ written and drawn by Alison Wong, a graduate from Stanford University, something enjoyable to read for the weekend.

The book was developed as a tool to help students unfamiliar with the product development process, teaching the main steps and familiarizing students with working in groups and with deadlines. Based off of user testing and from product design philosophies from textbooks, MIT courses, and design company strategies, it is currently used in the senior design class, 2.009, the Product Design Process, as supplementary reading.

You will read about a team of students who need to work together on a design project from brainstorming to prototyping and during the whole process you will see what problems and challenges they encounter. As a design student or fresh graduate you are probably familiar with the different kind of situations illustrated in the comic book and as a professional you might enjoy reminding yourself of the old good and bad days during school while reading it.
